How scoring works

Only the ranked puzzle counts. Guests and practice puzzles aren't scored.

Points

Points = 1000 × accuracy × speed

A perfect game, the fewest possible turns in 20 seconds or less, scores 1000. Because the two are multiplied, using 10% fewer turns is worth exactly as much as being 10% faster. Fast clickers and careful thinkers have the same chance, and the best scores go to players who are both quick and accurate.

On any one day, ranking by points is the same as ranking by time × turns: lowest wins.

Leaderboards

Each board has a Today view and an Overall view. Overall points add up every ranked day, so playing daily counts. Overall fastest and most efficient use your average time and accuracy, and you appear on them after 5 ranked solves, so one lucky day can't top them.

Boards list the top 100. When you're signed in, you also see your own place on each board, today and overall, wherever you rank, plus how many days you finished first and in the top 3 on that board. A day counts once it's over and at least 4 players have solved it, and players who tie share the place. Your finishes are only shown to you, and they don't add points.

Keeping it fair

These numbers may be tuned as more people play. Points are always worked out from your stored time and turns, so any change applies to everyone's past games equally.
